A guide on how to retrofit an Autodim mirror with integrated high beam assist. This is a relatively straightforward retrofit if you have the lights package which includes xenons and rain sensor wipers. You will just require the below
1X Autodim mirror Part#51169159089
1X Wiring Harness for Mirror (existing harness needs to be replaced as it doesnt have connector for the high beam assist sensor) not sure on part number
So i collected the autodim mirror for R450,it came with the rain and light sensor which i did not need as i already had one,its the matchbox size thing.
Next thing to do is remove old rear view mirror like below, you will see on mine it currently only has rain and light sensor and not high beam assist sensor at the bottom
To remove mirror you will need to take the plastic housing off,its quite easy.Just grab both sides with your hands and pull them away from eachother. Then twist mirror 45degrees and you will feel the bracket twisting and eventually release itself.
Once removed you will see the below
A you can see in the photo,i dont have the correct harness for the smaller connector so i will need to go back to the scrapyard and purchase it,no big deal but at least you can see the smaller connector, that is for the high beam assist.
To install the new mirror just repeat the process of how you remove it,insert at a 45degree angle and twist until it locks into place. In the end you will be left with the below.Once you have the correct harness you are ready for coding. If you dont code your autodim and high beam assist wont work so cars will blind you from behind if they have brights on.
