Massive Rave! My Carbon doctor experience

Hey guys,
I wanted to share my experience with the Carbon Doctor brand with you, and I hope it will enlighten all of us of the concept of what a vendor offering service should be like.

So I bought my E92 335i in august 2013 and already had a list of to do items that needed to be checked off, a walnut blast carbon clean being a big priority and right up on the list. Looking through the Carbon Doctor forum I knew there was a branch in PMB that could do it for me but it would be an entire day crossed out and the trip to PMB and back as well. So I put up a thread querying a group session for a few cars and George Smooth was kind enough to oblige with a special rate and waiving of his personal fee for the chaps who got in at that time. Pm’s were exchanged and a date was set for each car to arrive as scheduled. Now this is where it became very apparent that we were dealing with someone who took pride in all that he associates his name with.

The first car to go in belonged to a member Cool as Ice, his car was to stay over on the Wednesday night so work could begin early Thursday morning, as is typical Durban fashion the entire “Durban Crew” all pitched up at the premises of “Furious and Fast” in Jacobs to meet George and learn more about the carbon clean process, we were shown around the place and the tools of the trade, all the fanatics who arrived were allowed to park in the premises and watch the “street testing” going on outside by the locals for a good 2 hours, George arrived a little later and I believe his team begun work on the car shortly after (this is after 10pm considering we arrived at 8pm-ish)

Cool as ice collected his car the ffg afternoon at 2pm and was pleasantly surprised at the immediate difference it made to his car. That Thurs night was the turn of PrevanP who dropped his 335i of and it was also stripped that afternoon and prepped for work the next morning. I arrived on the Friday morning at 7-30am and parked my car waiting for it to cool down while they worked on his car. By 9-30am the stripping process begun on mine and the intake was ready for blasting by 11-30am.

Having watched the teams work with both cars the entire time, I must say their professionalism was second to none, the attention to detail is glaringly obvious as they covered both cars in lamb’s wool car covers to keep and dust or stray objects getting onto the cars, all the parts taken off were correctly sorted and placed out of harm’s way, the inlets to the turbo’s were promptly sealed off as well as any cylinder ports not being worked on were taped shut. New OEM gaskets were used on all the cars as well.

The process of the carbon clean doesn’t need to be explained as its already been covered in depth but I don’t think owners of “newer” direct injection turbo charged engines don’t understand the new life this breathes into the engine, it gets really bad in there as the pics will show. Its not a nice to do Mod that you can brag to your mates about but rather a necessity! Your car will thank you as well as your wallet as the reduction in fuel consumption though better efficiency and better drivability is almost immediate.

Both cars were ready by 3-30pm and the engine never looked like it was touched. A very nice touch at the end of the service was a little gift bag containing my invoice, some marketing material and stickers as well as quality USB flash drive containing all the pics taken of the process. Remember I said attention to detail???

George I want to say on behalf of myself and the rest of the Durban crew that despite it being a busy week with preps for the Drag event that Saturday you and your team pulled out all the stops for us!
Thank you!
