Ok so i datalogged yesterday and was stunned by the performance data.
There are no tap off areas on the n55 so i had to use diagnostic via the OBD port to confirm what these cars boost.
The figures confirm what i had thought that the boost level could not be low with this sort of performance.
Measurement is in Hectopascal but quite easy to convert because 1 hectopascal is 1 millibar.
Equipment measured at our altitude 865hpa.
Pressure at 3000rpm 1546hpa therefore 1546-865=681hpa=0,681bar
Pressure at 4000rpm 1710hpa therefore 1710-865=845hpa=0,845bar
Pressure at 5000rpm 1832hpa therefore 1832-865=967hpa=0,967bar
If you look at the turbo flow chart max. efficiency on this turbo is at 0.95bar so i think the engineers have got it spot on.
The standard boost pressure on my e90 n54 was 0.7bar.More boost more power so no wonder the n55's are faster.
I would like to add that this info was important to me because i have ordered the PPK kit and would like to see the bp after fitment.
With this knowledge i can now also say that the octane value on your f30 335i is very important especially at sea level.
