Hey all
Maybe you've had the same wired happenings as me or can shed some light? My 04 R53 has 160000kms on and it's never let me down touch wood! Over time the infamous death rattle started. So it was a case of first checking the basics, I replaced tensioner pulley arm And belt and the list hoes on....it was hundreds. It started up again and noticed the tensioner arm was missing a bolt, noise starts again no ones fault sh:t happens bolts replaced on my way. Three Weeks later car has major service up till then noise gone until all old oil was drained and replaced. However during service full diagnostics was done etc, fitted new tensioner for safe keeps again all sorted no probs found or revealed. Two weeks later again noise starts up no explanation available. What bugs me is I noticed a sucking of air noise from the first sign but my bad paid no attention. The oil level was fine timing chain fine, guides you name it. I removed the supercharger to find a vac pipe had Brocken off on the u bend flange. Sucking noise solved! Where it fits onto on the rail I removed v clip and shat myself as the bottom fell out in pieces? It squired a little petrol out I reseated and fitted valve and circlip, refitted supercharger tightened up all bits presto problem gone, have driven with ac on, traffic, hard and fast not a single peep. I checked supercharger on intercooler removal oil was clean no signs of wear or metallic dust. After doing this I reset ecu car runs like new, could it be possible that a intercooler bracket or 4 had become a bit loose I'm completely baffled or would the vacuum pipe have a role in this? The intercooler was clean no excess oil in it or leaking out? Anyone got a theory on this or am I just lucky. We all know this can break the bank if it really went bang. just glad she's running better than ever resetting ecu was huge help and all forums that provided info
