HELP: e36 rear left shock dome tear

Hey guys not sure if its called a shock dome...e36 rear left (passenger side) shock dome tear...see pics

Advice is required...

Some say best to weld it and re-inforce it while others say best to fit another dome (cut and replace)...

if I do replace the dome ( I found one but have not purchased it yet seems bit pricey) will the same thing not happen again?

I am sure it must have happened to someone here or have experience...

Please help me make a decision asap...
