My exhaust has always been something that I neglected thinking it would never come clean esp with all that black around it. After watching some youtube videos and getting some products from CrazyDetailer (thanks Pravin) I gave it a go.
Not bad for a first attempt
Still not 100% happy with the circumference. Anybody know if that's the best it will come out or can i do something more?
My "process" was as follows:
1. Washed the pipes off with normal car shampoo to get the dirt off
2. Sprayed Shield all purpose cleaner all over the exhaust
3. Wet a piece of 1200 grit sandpaper (I wasnt sure about this, but i couldnt find 0000 sandpaper at the hardware store).
This was done a week before I got my goodies from CD.
Today I did steps 1 and 2 again.
4. Washed and dried the pipes.
5. Used an applicator and coated the pipes with Auto Glym Metal Polish
6. Used the 1200 grit sandpaper and started cleaning the inside, circumference, and a bit underneath where there were black spots. I didnt do the rest with the sandpaper incase it caused scratches.
7. Used the applicator pad with generous amounts of the metal polish.
8. Wiped off with a cloth
9. Applied another coat of metal polish.
10. Left on for a few minutes.
11. Buffed with micro fiber cloth.
12. Washed the car and used Wheel Woolies to clean the inside of the exhaust.
13. Buffed with micro fiber cloth.
