Windscreen rubber replacement

Most people with older E90's will know the rubber at the top of the windscreen perishes.

I thought it would be a mission to get it replaced but is turns out it is quite easy.

Cost of part is about R250 from the dealer.

Took about 45mins to do.

Meant to take pictures of the process but got caught up in doing it.

1. Remove the persisted rubber from the glass
2. Peel the double side tape from the roof
3. There is an aluminum strip that now needs to be removed, this is the trickiest part of the process. Just be careful not to damage the paint or glass when removing it
4. Clean the sticky residue, and shampoo build up from paint and glass, dry it properly.
5. Starting at the 2 edges insert the new part and push it all the way to the end. Now is where you need some finger strength as you need to clip the aluminum strip into place.
NB!!! Do not remove the cover from the double sided tape before installing that step comes last!
6. Once the strip is clipped in completely, you will find a tab on the passenger side of the strip, pull the tab slowly to peel the protective cover off the sticky and stick the rubber to the roof. Go easy as if you break the strip it isn't easy to get it going again without contaminating the sticky.

End result:
