After getting a rather hefty fine on the way back from Durban I decided to see how long I could go without exceeding any speed limits. So, starting this past Monday I have used my car's speed limiter and set it when ever the speed changes with a notice sign. The limiter is not just a warning, but actually prevents the car from accelerating beyond the set speed unless you step-down.
Since Monday I have not sped once :-) I stick to what ever the speed limit is on any given stretch of road, no matter what. There have been three effects thus far.
1 - I am much more chilled while driving
2 - I stop at traffic lights less frequently
3 - Fuel economy has improved by, wait for it, 1.3l/100km
I challenge anyone willing to take up the gauntlet to do the same and report their findings back here :-)
