Hi guys
Maybe anyone can give me some advice on this:
From time to time, when coming across a 'cheapie', I buy it, have it repaired, put through Roadworthy, register it in my name, and put it up for sale.
Then usually I put a A4 size "For sale" paper in the window, drive it to work, park it in front of the shop (on our premises, not in municipal parking), and then at 5 o clock drive it back home.
In Aug 2012 I got a call from our local SAPD, that I must be in the Kolonel's office the next morning regarding my trading in 2nd hand vehicles (8 vehicles sold for the year Aug 2011 - Aug 2012)
Went there, and was stop immediately, otherwise I will be fined R5000 the first time, and jail time the second time.
Otherwise, I can register as a second hand car dealer (for selling 8 cars a year at ± R30 000 each)
Decided to do all the stuff to do it the legal way, certificate from local Municipality that I am allowed to trade with only one car at a time at our shop's parking, Tax clearance certificate, the works. Handed all the documents they needed in Nov 2012, had my fingerprints taken (felt like a criminal lol) and filled out all neccesary forms. I was told 6 weeks and I will have my licence.
After that, calling the 'officer' once a month, every time I'm told within the next month we will hear from them.
Its now Feb 2014, and still nothing?
So for the past 15 months I was afraid to buy something worthwhile, because I'm not allowed to sell it again.
Can anyone tell me if they can legally do this?
I actually know where this comes from, a second hand car dealer down the road (without any capital to buy bargains, and working with consignment stock), reported me.
I know somewhere on the forum is a post where legal advise is given by BMWforlife, but can't seem to find it now.
Your help would be appreciated guys
