Had an e39 528 come in for vanos and a few other small related items that required attention

This is the first time it has been opened up since new I would think as the valve cover still had the factory assembly silicone on it.
Vanos unit before clean up and stripping.
We normally bleed the vanos unit prior to removal and "lock" the cams in place.
This is only done so as to verify that the camshafts are at their ideal setting as opposed to locking them in case they move.
Did rattle kit on it which is very different to the e46 M3 setup in as much as the ring is nearly 3 times the size and the discs do not get changed.
Oil leak from oil filter housing.
Changed the oil feed line to the vanos solenoid as well.
