Hi guys,
I dont know if i can do anything about this now.
2 years ago my Aunts toyota engine started knocking (140i) > A mechanic checked it out and said the oil pump packed up and messed up the engine. So instead of fixing it she decided to change the engine. Since she is in durban and i am up here i started to look around for an engine.
I called a place Diesel Warehouse in durban. They had a 160 motor from the same model car and assured me it will work.
So called my aunt and told her the only one i could find was gona set her back R17 000 with labour. Since she had no choice she bought a small run around car so the kids could go to school and so on.
The following week she took the car in to get the motor changed. Everything went well a week later they called her to fetch the car. Car started drove it home all was fine.
Since she had a decent run around she hardly drove the car. 2 weeks ago the car started to knock again. Called her mechanic friend and he said the original motor was still in there and no engine change was done.
She confronted the guys at Diesel Warehouse and they said a 160i motor will never work in a 140i and they used the money she paid to do an engine overhaul.
This was never mentioned to her and she has no idea on motor related topics to see if the engine was changed.
So now. Does she just lose out due to her taking to long to find out?
The invoice says engine exchange.
