More Speed Less Haste e39-540

I recently received a 540 which belongs to a fanatics father for upper timing cover gaskets and solenoid gaskets.

Although capable of doing the work himself he does not have the solenoid socket which forms part of the special tool set for the V8s so he thought it a good idea that we do the work for him.

Right bank upper timing cover removed to show deflection rail in very good condition. Clearly not a dealer maintained car.

Car was delivered to fanatic and proceeded to leak 10 liters of oil on his driveway.....this is where more speed less haste comes into it

I pinched the right bank valve cover gasket whilst putting it together.
Had to take the car back tail between my legs and get a new gasket as I destroyed the one on the car.

So moral of the story is I am almost perfect in my imperfection......and if any of you come up with any funny comments or snide remarks I shall hold my breath.

Thanks for reading and giggling to yourselves

To the fanatic involved I thank you for your good humour and understanding.
