Hi People new to this so hope ive got it right and havent broken any rule's ive purchaced a bmw 318i touring 2004 e46 n46 and the same day of driving home up popped an engine check light but seemed too be running fine so not knowing much about bmw's i decided to take in to my local garage no 1 not to start well as to find them telling me that there bmw diagnostic machine doesnt work with my car??? so using another diagnostic tool, up come 2 error's 2a67 vvt activation and 2a63 vvt actuator monitoring so was told i needed a valtronic motor and ontop of the engine and a solinoid replaceing at the frount of the motor. so i agreed for this to be done. to cut a long story short they done more than i asked they blew a 40 amp fuse and blew there multi meter also giving me another light on the dash (eml) and another error code valvetronic in emergency mode and car suddenly not going above 3 thousand revs. so decided to take it to garage no 2 who also told me they had bmw diagnostic's to find out after they didnt. wich had it for a month changed the valvetronic motor and essentric shaft sensor without asking me and then told me they couldnt get it running at all and all it was good for was parts and not to waste any more money on it so i decided to try fix it myself as compleatly lost confidence in all the garage's close by so dicided as im pritty good with mazda rx8's to try fix the bmw and put engine back together to find it started ? check the soliniod on the front of the engine to find an o ring was missing so replaced that to cure the running problem so a friend got me use of a bmw diagnostic computer inpa cleared all codes and re tested for them to find 2a67 vvt activation and a mention of a short circuit in engine cable but also still keeping this eml light and not allowing me to calibrate the valvetronic as error in system any idea's plz help save this bmw and me sorry about my spelling better at fixing things than spelling things
