Meet Randy Balingit-Hartmann, the only owner of a 1989 BMW M5 (E28) who has a strong passion for his German high-performance sedan.
Back in 1989 it was the first M5 sold in San Diego and Randy was so anxious that he took delivery right after the truck arrived. Since then he drove the car for more than 400,000 miles (643,738 km) without any major technical problems, even though he drove it "like it was stolen".
Randy says he's kind of a shy guy which is why he wanted a car that would match his personality as the M5 doesn't look as flamboyant as other similar quick cars. It is a powerful yet unassuming four-door sedan which was sold only in black. Over the years Randy made several modifications to the M5 but he wants to restore it back to an original configuration now that he's getting into his "senior years".
