School fees - Paid WRT wheels

I am extremely frustrated at this point in time.... one for being such an idiot and also with the person i dealt with for this trade.

As many know i have been looking to change my wheels and always struggled to find something that either looked the part or fitted correctly.

I came across an ad on gumtree...

19 Inch BMW 650i mags Original R7500 for the set of Original 19 Inch BMW 650i Mags Mags are Original BMW Wide and Narrows 9J Rear and 8J Front Mags fit to any 5,6 and 7 Series BMW Mags are in great condition Contact ******* 08********

Upon chatting to guy i found out that he trades in mags in tyres and after having dealt with another fanatic i felt ok about the deal. I discussed the option of trading my wheels if the trade in was good and the set i was getting was similar.

The wheels in question are indeed from a 650i, with quite an aggressive offset of 14 fronts and 18 rear, yes the seller assured me it would fit. I did some digging on the interwebs and found plenty of E60's with style 218 wheels running 245/40/19 or 245/35/19 in front and 275/35/19 rear. Some guys still manage to put 10mm spacers in the rear.

The seller initially only had 3 tyres but was sourcing the 4th. When i went to view the set he mentioned that he had sourced a 4th. I was not happy with the 4th tyre and he said he would find another. I specifically asked for a matching pair, which he agreed and he would do so during the week. Another flag should have went up but i decided to do the deal and he will source the matching pair.

The front tyres he suggested were 245/40/19, which he assured me would fit, but i recommended 245/35/19. The rears were 275/35/19 which according to my research was fine. Upon fitment one could see the aggressive nature of the wheels and i raised my concerns about the different tyre brands in the rear which seem to have a different shape and one seemed to be closer to the fender than the other. The fronts looked ok, even though the tyre was over sized, it filled the arch nicely.

A quick drive around the block showed no issues, dealt concluded i left. Reaching home in the suburbs i go through dip in the road and the tyres rub. It was clear the rear was rubbing. I initially suspected it was the tyre that had a different sidewall design and called the seller and informed him. He mentioned he would try to find the matching pairs. Today I swopped the rears around. It didnt make a difference and after more roads with dips in them i found the fronts to be rubbing too.

I contact the seller saying that it is more than just the rears and I am not happy with the set as I expected a straight fit. I suggested i return the wheels and tyres and i will pay for the fitment and refund my money...

Now this is where is gets bad as the seller says he already sold my rims.... within 18 hours of me handing them over. He doesnt want to take them back and says we can shave the rims to make them fit.

The part that confuses me is that this set, exactly as i have it fits on other E60's, non M, even on the touring which has a wider rear track than the sedans. Some guys have gone wider on the fronts and rears, with spacer and no modification to the car. In all honesty there were one or two who had issues, but they admitted that the car had some work on a specific fender and that might be the problem.

I believe the issue with mine is the fronts should not be over sized, should be 245/35/19 and the rears, can be be 255 or 265 with a 35 profile.

I am now in the market for a set of 245/35/19 fronts and 265/35/19 rears
the tyres i have are 245/40/19 Michelin PS3 with about 6-7mm tread. The rears are 275/35/19 Dunlop Sport 01 with 8mm tread and michelin primacy hp with about 3-4mm( about 1mm-1.5mm above the wear indicator). All four have no damage, no repairs.
