My F30 335i MPerformance Exhaust Review (pics and vids)

Hi,

For those considering this upgrade, I hope my review will make your decision easier.

First and foremost, this is not an Eisenmann, Schnitzer or Akrapovic exhaust so don't expect the same throttle sound. The MPE is more affordable (just over 10k) with more conservative changes, and this may be why some won't notice the difference. I've probably watched all the youtube videos, and in the end I told myself - if there is no sound difference, atleast I have an MPerformance tail piece which looks hot.

Fitment

The exhaust took about 10 days to be delivered and was told that it's not very popular yet. Also, the tail pieces are not part of the exhaust package so make sure they include it in the order.
The car was booked in for the day although fitment took about an hour. There were no issues with the fitment although I did request that the tail pieces be pushed in abit further. Also, petrol consumption after fitment shot to about 17.5 but it settled down to normal after about 300 kms.

Note in the second pic that the tail pieces are adjustable (forward or back) if you wish to add a diffuser afterwards.

The Look:
The first thing I noticed when I got my car back were the bigger tail pieces. They make the rear look more aggressive, and that M Logo tips look fantastic. They looked much smaller in the youtube videos though. They are definitely bigger than the standard tail pieceThumbs

Performance

First impression was that the car felt faster on pulling, which is an added bonus as this was not the reason for the upgrade.[THUMBS UP SIGN]

The Sound
Bearing in mind that the exhaust will get louder after time, probably the best way to describe the sound is to say that the new sound is equivalent to that of a cold start. So listen to your cold start and drive around while your car is cold. This will give you some idea of what your car will sound like.

Contrary to other reviews, I notice the difference in sound when driving in Econo, Comfort and Sport mode - window open or close.
There is no drone in the cabin. At cruising speeds the exhaust sounds almost stock but wakes up with the slightest touch of the throttle. You can hear the crackling/bubbling sound even at low revs.

The exhaust really comes to life when you using your paddle shifts, and it is at the higher revs that the sound excites meInlove A friend of mine says that the car is abit louder from the outside, and can be heard from a distance but it's not annoying - just enough to draw attention.

I like these subtle changes and this exhaust suits me perfectly. I think it gives the car a much-needed character while still staying tasteful. I'm very happy with it Joy

Enjoy the video. I'll update the thread with a couple of drag videos soon.
