The 735bhp HGP VW Golf R Is A V6 Bi-Turbo Supercar Slayer
These highly-modified Golfs are hugely powerful, and as you'll see, quick enough to beat Lamborghinis.

When we saw this video of a Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore getting beaten by a VW Golf R, we had to find out more. As it turns out, the Golf has received a very special tuning package from German firm HGP, which involves transplanting a 3.6-litre VR6 engine from a Passat R36 into a Mk6 Golf. It's no ordinary VR6, either, it's treated to a gigantic list of modifications including a twin-turbocharger setup.

If - like the car that went up against the Gallardo - you spec the most powerful version of the package, the result is a massive 735bhp.
To see another HGP R36-converted Golf in action, check out the video below.
Summarised spec
3.6-litre Passat R36 VR6 engine
Two HGP R28 turbochargers
Two large volume intercoolers
Modified ECU

Amended DSG software
Reinforced DSG-eight-disc clutch
