My thoughts on the ownership experience:
As you can imagine I was stoked to get the car !
My first SUPERCAR or at least Supercar challenging car.
She made decent power stock 440bhp on all 4 wheels and turned out a best quarter mile of 11.7s at 202kph.
However that is where here appeal starts and stops.
I really started to despise the car as a daily driver-
- the ride sucks, ok maybe that is too nice. Its down right rubbish !!!
- I spent R38 000 on brakes that are not covered by maintenance plan.
- Then a further R42 000 on 4 tires as they wont replace a two at a time.
- The wow factor started to disappear quickly as your stuck in William Nicol traffic.
- She jerked, she lurched- I looked like I just started driving as the dim witted gearbox conspired against me
The romance was well and truly gone at the end and I was so happy to see her go.
There isn't a single thing I will miss about her.
So long story short, my time with the GTR has come and gone.
Well, what now you may ask?
You will never believe it, but I traded her in on a brand new diesel Wildtrack- what a fabulous car.
Crawling ( cos that's how you exit a GTR ) from the GTR and jumping into the Wildtrack was a welcome respite.
Were anyone to ask my opinion of the GTR, I would have nothing but poor opinions to offer.
She isn't that quick any more- new M5's and E63's are in the same ball park.
We cant exploit her handling near anywhere their limits on SA roads.
The one and only upside is that she made people smile and point wherever I went.
Sad to say but the GTR will not be missed.
