Hi Gents,
I've searched for a thread on this topic but none match the situation I currently have. My e36 alarm seems to be faulty, this is a 1996 model 316i (A) with a 3 button key. If I lock the car with the remote, it locks fine. The moment I press the unlock button on the remote, the car unlocks but the alarm goes off(without me opening any doors/boot)... I then have to repeatedly press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote during which time the unlock and lock buttons may or may not work. This usually carries on for 2 minutes and causes a ruckus, until the alarm stops after playing with the key. I notice that if I lock with the key inserted into the door, the car remote unlocks perfectly fine, every time.. This leads me to believe it can't be the battery.
I am not keen on doing the whole alarm re-programming and would rather have a specialist help, if I can't do anything myself. I am in the Durban area, any advice or referrals will help!
