What is an OCD person's view of soft99?

Before I start I must categorically state that I am a perfectionist when it comes to cars and absolutely OCD, to a point that it irritates me (not to mention people around me) ... And I honestly do think I have a problem... Having a micro millimeter scratch that can only be seen in the peripheral light of an led down lighter would erk me... New cars on the showroom floor I would rate the paint 6 or 7 out of ten and will see micro scratches ... Fluorescent lights tend to hide the smallest paint imperfections but led down lighters are a bitch as they show the paint at its worst and uncover even the smallest imperfections

So i bought some of this

And some glass polish

From crazy detailer... Also bought a clay bar with auto glym detailer

Now up front.... The pics i took won't show the paint imperfections I am OCD about, so I'll post them but, they won't tell the whole story tbh... so I'll try and be as unbiased as I can

Claying the car... I hated the blue clay bar that came with the auto glym... Its not as easily squished and moulded like say a meguiars clay bar and much prefer the meguiars product... Be this as it may I trudged along and clayed the car, not the best tbh but done and this is what the car looks like after being clayed

So it looks like it's been polished and at this point I wasn't expecting a major improvement in gloss over the bare paint with soft 99... Apologies for the kak pics... But I think one gets the idea

So onto soft99... Packaging wise there is zero English on it so unless mandarin is in your vocab you can read the instructions... It comes with a micro fibre cloth in the package and a tin that conceals the "magic paste"

This tin is like those rally polish tins or a paint tin where you need a screw driver to pry it open... One thing though with this kind of packaging is the big and very plausible risk of getting dirt in the waxy paste... One will always be tempted to leave the tin open to dab the mf cloth in it and apply to the car... Catch 22 one can't close the tin and open it quickly (you need that screwdriver to open the tin all the time) and then leaving it open on the floor next to you runs the risk of getting dirt in it... It was a little frustrating

Yes it's easy to apply and even though they say it's just apply until it disappears... Its not quite that easy.... I used the polish (although to me more a wax) sparingly and only dabbing the mf cloth in it and apply to a panel at a time... I noticed it does leave some residue and u had to do a re over the panel to get some of the residue off... Its not bad residue just slight streaks it leaves behind

So what did the car look like when done

I'll take better pics in the sun tomorrow... Soft99 Def brings out a nice shine to the car... Not quite wet look buy close and thumbs up for this... There was some water spots on my paint which soft99 was not able to remove at all, whereas my bottle of triple x auto finesse made easy work of these (hence why I'm convinced this is a wax) In terms of hiding imperfections.... Soft99 was a hit and miss in terms of hiding those really micro scratches and more miss imo. And the truth is a proper detail by a professional with a machine and some serious products can not be substituted for soft 99... It is not as I thought (and as many might think as well) an instant paint defect masking product

For what it is.. Its a decent polish wax solution that is easy to apply and does take allot of the hard work out of polishing a car... Would I buy it again... Only if they include an twist type applicator pad that closes the tin at the same time... The mf setup is clumsy

So I'm off to find a detailer to detail my car and remove those micro scratches Bluebiggrin
