Once again proving that they mean business, Kia plans to unleash their 2014 Pro_cee’d GT, onto the streets of Mzansi.

The Korean automakers’ high-performance three-door model is set to be released in the UK in July, and will most likely make it to South Africa by the end of 2013.

Local pricing is yet to be confirmed however they could cost around R308 800.

Under the bonnet lurks a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, pushing out 149kW and 265Nm of torque. It does 0 – 100 in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 230kph.

For now the big question is, how will it fair on the local market and perhaps more importantly – should the hot-hatch rivals be worried? Well, we’d be very surprised if they weren’t.
