To whom it may concern
We are sending out a desperate plea to everybody out there that cares and wants to help us in our Cause.
We have 7weeks to comply to the standards accepted by the NSPCA for camp of our dogs and cats. In the process we have to increase the numbers of our camps with 5 new camps for the dogs and 3 for the cats.
Now we DESPERATELY need financial support with our expanding premises! Any donation towards it will be of GREAT VALUE and would mean that we can home our babies.
PLEASE HELP US IN OUR DESPERATE HOURS!!
We have 185 dogs to home at the moment as well as about 300 cats.
VERY URGENT NEED FOR:
• Bricks to built kennels/enclosures to keep our dogs and cats warm in these winter months, and naturally keep them safe in the summer against the rain and heat.
• Bricks to build a room for one of our staff member on the premises so that he will be able to be on the premises on a permanent basis.
• Cement
• Corrugated sheeting
• Wendy houses for the cat enclosures
• Kennels for the dog enclosures
• Fencing of 1.8m high
• Gates for each camp = 8 gates
This shelter (Purrpaws for life) has a NO-KILL policy, which means that every animal is given the opportunity and right to live the happy and fulfilling life that they deserve. We Rehabilitate and accommodate all special need dogs and cats, to ensure that they all have an equal opportunity to a new FOREVER HOME when they get adopted. Other shelters, are pro-life shelters, and have a time frame in which the animal is put down if it is not re-homed, or if the numbers increase of the animals being abandoned, neglected or abused e.g. 2 weeks.
All animals come from people that:
a. No longer want or cannot financially support their pets,
b. Have moved and left their animals behind or not allowed to keep pets
c. Circumstances changing ie. Divorce, death etc
All animals need to be sterilized, vaccinated and de-wormed as soon as possible after arrival and kept in a quarantine area for about one month.
ENCLOSURES
All animals are kept in small garden camps (approx. 10m by 10m) in small groups. Each camp has shelter against the elements (Rain, sun, etc.). The cats have a Wendy house in each camp as shelter, providing an excellent environment for the cats to be happy in and adapt to.
STAFF
At the moment 3 people are employed at the shelter. These were previously unemployed persons, so the shelter is helping 3 families to survive at this stage.
As mentioned above a large number of people do not care about their pets and Purrpaws for life need to rescue these animals from starvation, neglect and abuse.
EDUCATION
There is such a big void in the community when it comes to knowledge about the caring of animals, that we desperately need to educate so many people, and we don’t seem to have enough time, or money to be able to get out there to do what we need to do to be teaching the community.
Kind Regards
