Hi All
So moving on from my easily serviced classics I decided to try a service on my 08' 335 E90 recently off motorplan. Im confident as long as major electronics dont come into it and I need to fight through all the engine covers. The car has a slight miss when cold, I want to replace plugs which I just bought from Bosch.I had BMW run a diagnostic and they say its not injectors as mine were replaced under m/plan at 76000km.
Also bought new oil fiter. I will be using BMW's oil or is there any other oil someone recomends. I can get VALVOLINE 5W30 Full Synthetic at the same price as BMW's Castrol Premium.
I suspect missing is either plugs or a bad coil.So I am going to replace plugs and see if the problem persists then I will unplug coils one at a time to see if it is a coil pack then swap coil packs from 2 cylinders and see if the problem follows the suspect coil.
First I was in for a shock, the car had a service in march this year with 96000km on the clock and just went off m/plan.
My air filter!! Date stamp is 12/2007 BMW OEM. I cant believe this has ever been changed.. I can understand stock can lie on shelves before they get used but 2007 filter in a car that is now in 2013 and has been to all scheduled m/plan services. The filter is almost rock hard and crumbles!! I am sure that techie should have noticed this as routine when going through the car. Even if its not to be changed at certain services I am sure they should check and even blow it clean and refit!!
Next the cabin filter; date stamp 08/2008 , badly clogged..
VOW NEVER TO USE A DEALER AGAIN...
Now advice needed: Where can I buy the slim line socket to change these plugs?
Also anybody tell me if these 2 coils look messed, white marks on the stems not found on the other plug coils. I hear this can be faulty when they have this watermarks or stains. Little hole on one doesnt look kosher!
Any help will be appreciated.
