Hi all,

I wanted to discuss an engine conversion build that is currently under construction. This is what I have collected so far;

* '99 BMW 318i E46
* M50tuB25 cast iron block
* 6 x S50B32 pistons
* M52B28 cylinder head (Cast no 1738400)
* E34 sump (to clear the sub-frame)
* External oil filter housing from an E39 M62
* E36 328i 5 speed box
* Spitronics Advanced ECU with F10 Extreme Firing Module
* Eaton M45 supercharger from a Mini & an Eaton M62 from Merc C320

Suspension is already sorted with new bushes, control arms, stabilizer links, tie rods, Eibach Pro Kit 20mm and Bilstein B-6 shocks for a 330i. Brakes callipers are en-route.

Cylinder compression has been measured to 8.7:1 (via water & pipette method).

The sub and head have been reconditioned and the M3 pistons already installed.

Now the first snag I have is the left engine mounting bracket, the E46 bracket does not fit onto the block (i can only line up 3 out of 4 bolts), so my question is, has anyone had experience with installing an M50 block into an E46, or perhaps lead me in the right direction concerning manufacture of a custom bracket to satisfy my requirements.

Please no flaming about the M50 block, yes I know it is heavier, but I have piece of mind with this motor as I know they are almost bulletproof, and I also got it for a bargain. I'm going to run the original DME alongside the Spitronics so that I dont lose functionality (ABS, DSC, cluster etc).

The supercharger will be installed after I run the motor in, so I'm not overtly concerned about it at the moment, however, any positive information will be greatly appreciated.
