Was at Merc dealership recently and they had this special on. It was for 210litres of oil for R9150 plus vat. Works out to R49.67 a litre of synthetic oil. Sounds like a bargain![Image: oil again_8719145543.jpg][Image: oil_7890531411.jpg]

How much are you paying for Insurance?

Hi all.

I have a 2004 E46 330i. When I purchased the car, the dealer used King Price. I did not bother changing it since. I heard King Price is shit.

My insurance works out to about R800 per month. I understand it will differ with the individual, but how much are you paying for your insurance. Anyone E46 owners?

Who are you insured with? Which insurance company is a no go?

Looking to change.

Upgrading to new 3 series

Afternoon all!

I have come here seeking some advice.

I am currently the owner of a 2004 E46 318i Exclusive. I have had this car for about 7 years now. over the past year I have spent about 13k on repairs and have another 4.5k coming up for a control arm replacement, my one xenon headlight is not working (HID replacement needed) and a rattle coming from what i think is the gearbox, airbag light is on and I believe an oxygen sensor needs to be replaced, the windscreen washer water pump also needs to be replaced (it leaks)

The car has been serviced at the required intervals and I have a full service history. engine is in very good condition, no oil or coolant leaks, there are no other issues i have, interior is also in very good condition. The current mileage is 197,000.

I found myself a 2012 E90 320i, 50,000KM on the clock, stock standard and appears to be in very good condition. His asking price was R169k, and he said the dealership offered about R149k. So price is negitioable.

I am going to see the vehicle this weekend and I want to know what to look for, are these reliable 3 series (more reliable then the E46), and a genreal opinion of the model of 3 series.

Also I am hoping to get like R60k for my current E46, is that reasonable?

I look forward to your responses!

Hi i fell in love with the BMW brand in 2010 when I bought my first bmw. It was a 2006 320i e90 88 000km manual base model.

In 2013 i traded it in at 140 000km for a 2010 320d e90 Dynamic edition auto 46 000km. The power and the torque was incredible. Didn't know that diesels could produce that kind of power and torque and 1000km per tank.

In 2015 i made the biggest mistake and sold it at 74 000km for a 2014 320i F30 m sport auto 19 000km. The pros was the look and the ride quality. The cons was the consumption, higher insurance and numerous interior rattles which made it unbearable to drive.

In 2016 while the 320i was getting a service i spotted my previous car the 320d and it was for sale. I decided to pay the shortfall for the 320i and get my diesel back with no motorplan. Test drive 100%. Mileage 93 000km. Needed tyres and the leather needed cleaning. At 97 000km i changed the oil ( LL04 @ R170 per litre ), oil filter, diesel filter, air filter, cabin filter and a set of michelin zp rft.

In May 2017 at 101 000km i fitted a downpipe at flowtech exhaust. Software was done on 11 May by a reputable tuner. The ecu was sent to their hq in joburg. Picked up the car on the 12th and during the test drive noticed a vibration. Before was 115kw 368nm and after 140kw 432nm. Prior to software the car ran smooth. Decided to give it some time to settle down.

Now on 107 000km and 4 months later the vibration is still there. The vibration is only at 1800rpm to 2000rpm when accelerating on a flat or incline not when stationery. The vibration is in the seats and mostly the steering wheel. SPORT mode no vibration as the rpm is above 2000. Vibration is more noticeable in higher gears. If I'm doing 80km on the freeway and i give it 75% throttle without kick down as soon as the needle goes between 1800rpm to 2000rpm the vibration starts. Before and after the specified rpm range it's smooth. No power loss. Spoke to the tuner and was given a few options. He can flash it back to stock, turn down the map or reflash if bmw flashes it to stock. Car went to bmw on 2 September to be programmed. They reprogrammed the gearbox only as the values were way off and a fault code of 004862 air system, air to EGR mass flow, plausibility came up. Suspension and engine mountings were checked. Consumption still great. When looking at the history it was never a problematic car.

Hi guys,

This is my bros E46 330i ///Motorsport. He isn't on the forum but just thought I would share a few pics of this immaculate beauty...

Almost every conceivable option was fitted on this car:
Sunroof
Electric seats
Xenons
Electric rear blinds
PDC

It is original apart from a RF/MB Quart sound install together with a Dynavin head unit with Satnav and reverse camera. Also had the oem style 313M 19s fitted recently.

Managed to find a 2005 550i in very good shape with 127k on clock. This guy owned it for 13 years before he left for England. Best of all for me is the keyless entry and the HUD and comfort seats.

Gearbox was replaced at 60xxx km so hopefully still a lot more km's to go!

Forum Staff Changes 2018

$

As time moves on we all progress and change, following the path our lives take us and all that goes with it. Another year has brought about a staff change as it usually does and so let me state those changes here.

I have already made a thread for Rob who resigned earlier this year but am not going to do a new thread for each staff member. It will just be cluttered.

I want to personally thank, once more, each member who served time on the staff team for their dedication and willingness to assist, sacrificing their own time and effort for the benefit of the forum. The staff lounge and related discussions always take a toll on those who frequent it and it's never a fun "hobby" to have. There is no way we can thank you all enough. Apologies for the grey hairs, too Bluebiggrin

The following resignations were made and have already taken effect:

Admins
RAArmstrong
Coisman

Moderators
Nikhil
Nick
VictorMike
TurboLlew

Remaining staff are as follows:

Forum committee
Twinz
Prev
ChrisBrand

Admins
ChefDJ
Kish2604

Moderators
Yuben
131GAV
Andy1GP
Donovan2412

We feel the current staff setup is sufficient for the running of the forum and so no further changes will be made unless circumstances dictate a change of mind, however we want to avoid this as best we can.

Thanks Chef
