I received a call about 8 months ago, asking for a MAF sensor for an E46 M3, luckily I had one in stock. About half an hour after the call, a beautiful grey E46 M3 arrived at PSR.
The car had been supercharged and required a new MAF sensor in order to get it running. The owner and builder both arrived and answered all my questions, I was very excited because a local company was going to retail supercharger kits.
I stayed in contact with the owner and provided advise from time to time.
3 weeks ago, I get a phone call from the owner. He explained to me that the car had been to 6 different shops and it could not be tuned over a period of 8 months.
What I didnt realize was that when the car came for the MAF sensor, It was running a stock map and stock injectors. This made me apprehensive, But I agreed to sort the car out. Since then it had been flashed several times and the injectors had been changed to 650cc bosch red devils.
Because the ecu had been flashed so many times, I was worried that it would soon lock. Off to the Uk it went for repairs, and 2 weeks later, It was back. A base map had already been loaded on the 'new' ecu.
The map was an Alpha N supercharger map for a Manual pre facelift E46 M3.
The car was having some touch up work done at a panel beater. I went with the owner to reinstall the ecu.
I looked over the build and noticed a few problems, The owner and I discussed changes to be made at length.
The M3 wouldnt start, it cranked over and as it came to life, it immediately died.
The problem was the Injectors, 650cc for .5 bar boost.. Its not going to work on this application.
With the car now at Project Shift, new injectors ordered and some enhancements to the kit, the car should be running with in the next week.
Ill post some pics tomorrow.
Details of the current kit:
Rotex supercharger, self oiled with external oil cooler
650cc injectors to be changed to 450cc bosch
Water cooled system with the charge cooler located in the intake manifold.
Intake to be changed to Mafless to accommodate the Alpha N tune.
**Note, We cannot take credit for designing the kit, We will be mapping the car and changing a few of the kit specs in order to make the car run efficiently.
