Hi Guys,
I know there are alot of questions about the Performance Pack for the F30 320d. I want to Share my experience with you.
Car: BMW 320d F30 2012 8-Speed Auto
Location: Durban, KZN(Sea Level)
Dyno: Autotrix (Springfield)
Test gear: 4
BEFORE
124wKW/360nm on the Wheels. Not bad, considering its suppose to 135kw on the fly.
My Best Fuel Consumption on a longish trip to Drakensburg, All done in sport mode. Normally 6.5l/100km on OBC with only town driving.
AFTER BMW Performance upgrade
137wkw/398nm on the wheels. Was hoping for 140wkw but not shabby. Drives much smoother, and marked increase in torque and power across the rev range in sport mode. Comfort and ECO mode feel the same.
Fuel consumption has gone up(7.2l/100km town driving), but I do drive it harder now, and mostly in Sport Mode.
Cost: R16K including VAT.
Percentage increase in power/torque: 10%
Is it worth it?: For me a definite Yes.(I paid much less than R16k for the upgrade thou)
Is it now faster than a G6 GTI/Focus ST? Unfortunately not, although its not a walk over race anymore. It does pull off the line fast, but you don’t have the legs of the petrol turbos later in the race.Comparatively a stock Focus ST(225) makes about 144wkw/300nm on the same dyno.
I did see alot of people also complaining about rubber noises from the doors when the car go over bumps. If you have an msport, 3M tape from the dealer is the only solution to this problem.
Hope this was a helpful write-up
