Speedway now also does "minor" oil services

Just putting it out there to the "FANATIC" public in general

item number 8 on my thread http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=56555
just in case it was overlooked.

and in reply to http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread....971&page=3

(Yesterday 01:47 PM)DieselFan Wrote:  I didn't know speedway did services...?

we have "unofficially" branched out into accepting minor oil service as well.
No serious stuff, as we aren't set up to do anything greater than oil and filters etc.
We normally give the client the option of providing us with the "service-kit" (parts) and then we do the labour.

On more "low-cost" and easier/older vehicles we can obviously do more items as well, but we cannot tinker with computor stuff.

we have also started to do clutch changes or the more common smaller cars as well.

essentially if it is a technical manual labour item, we could do it, if it involves resetting computors, and diagnosis with computors...NO THANKS

it would the quickest way to "throw my name away"

Hi all,

Could someone please educate me regarding the offset limits and rim width limits of the BMW E46 Non //M.

I am looking for a set of 18" CSL Reps for my 2001 BMW E46 330i.

Found these on Gumtree :

18" CSL Reps

They are a staggered setup with 8.5j up front, 9j at the back. The offset, front ET25, rear ET20.

From other posts and threads I have seen, the 18" is normally an easy fit, and the 8.5j and 9j don't seem to aggressive. The offset however, I'm not quite sure.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

So, this seems to have gone viral and many people are sharing it over facebook and whatsapp groups. I am guessing some of you guys have seen it too.

It is a scene from my graduation film, AT THY CALL. The film played at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2008, where I was lucky enough to meet Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

Anyway, thought I'd share it here for those who have not seen this little snippet from my film.

My views on my Golf 7 R so far

138km on the clock ... and this is my new daily drive ... so early views on the car ... first up ... i do realise some people generally have their dicks and egos attached to their cars ... so the car a person owns is the best shit under the sun to them and they would like to think it compares to an Koenigsegg agera R ... (unless you buying cars in that league) ... so why am i mentioning this ... well im going to be as honest as i can be ...

so here goes first off
build quality
VW have come a long way from the days of the Golf 3 etc ... this is a premium product and does rival the build quality of that of the BMWs and mercs, nice nappa leather, solid drive, that leather steering wheel feel, in ones hands reminds me of the F30 BMW 320i msport i had ... think the size and just general feel ... no hard plastics here in this car ... my one is kitted with the carbon fibre leather which is kinda a little too much ... but it grows on you ... the car takes bumps and uneven roads like a boss and is well planted ... if anyone has been in a G7 GTI, this is much of the same in terms of build quality really awesome ... a G7 R feels more luxurious than the 1M inside...i think its that nappa leather ...

and now the performance

holy fuck! this car goes ... and handles ... when in race mode it hugs the road and the steering becomes more tight, the exhaust note (albeit a fake note) becomes louder and this car comes alive ... it is a lunatic golf ... im sure the car will open up with time, and is pretty tight at the moment, but still it flys ... been a few times between robots in fourways where id floor the car and when looking at the speedo im already on 160-170 ... does it feel quicker than a 1M? ... 1M is a 1M ... Golf 7R is not quite a 1M, but def comes close, and anyone comparing the two cars should be shot (ill go grab the gun later and blast myself) ... i do reckon a 135i or 1M will be quicker than the R ... but maybe only just ... there is a slight delay when you floor the car and half a second and then it goes, i hate that ... think turbo spool up ... 1M none of that BS ... i know unfair comparison, a 1M is allot more fun, guess being manual and liking to shake its arse ... but the 7R has the ability to be a daily drive and a lunatic golf ... now that i think of it the setup in race mode feels a bit like a scubby STI ... and btw the DCC chassis is an option, where you can choose all the different drive modes, like race, comfort etc ... it is what EDC is to BMW ...

it is a different car to the Golf 7 GTI. where the G7 was a very civilised car, almost too refined... so where would i place the G7 R

1M anyday of the month, year or week

second an E92 M3

Id then take a G7 R

then a 135i (cant compare to a m135i or a m235i cause ive never owned these)

my one has the pano roof, reverse cam, DCC chasis control, high beam assist and the nappa carbon leather ... std options are pretty impressive, with lane change warning, bluetooth, dynamic xenon lights, cruise control, touch screen radio, driver fatigue assist, pdc back and front ... it honestly is all the car you'd want and would not mind driving it everyday ...

so i dont like that lag when you floor it and it looks good but maybe a little plain for an R ... no one can touch BMW in the aesthetics department .. would i recommend it? ... hell yeah! ... at first youd think over R500k for a golf! ... no car these days are worth their sticker price ... but when comparing what you can buy new in the R500-R550k range ... its my pick!

Hi everyone im in my final stretch on buying a car, my eyes were set on a M135i, and a new one being a little out of budget and the pre owned still being that little much. I want to know your guys opinion, scale down to a F20 125i, or a 135i coupe.

I've been offered a good 35i, 2013 19 000km R409 000 lots of extras, im just unsure if the shape change and the somewhat dated interior will bug me!

Help? what would you do?

thanks in advance.

Hi guys , i was wondering if you could give me an idea on how many boxes to add to my new exhaust i had installed 2 days ago on my 330d , initially decided to go with no boxes which was a very bad idea, 63mm downpipe and straight exhaust all the way to the back!Flyfun . Not a great idea for my likings , would one box at the back dampen the sound enough? Thanks (Did my exhaust at powerflow)

Z4 - one-touch roof open/close

This afternoon, I installed the gap-tech module which allows the roof on the Z4 roadster to be opened and closed with a single press of the roof button, instead of having to hold the button in all the time until the roof is up/down.

I can now get in the car, press the roof button briefly for about 1 sec, and drive away with both hands while the roof opens.

I can really recommend the gap-tech system. Thumbs

The kit arrived about 3 weeks after I placed the order and paid via Paypal. It is a tiny electronic module with just 4 wires, installation took about 10min and no wires had to be cut. The installation requires the removal of the ashtray (1 phillips screw), unplug two connectors, connect the 4 wires to the wiring loom with the special connectors supplied in the kit, replace the ashtray and voila.

Hi, I have an e90 320i 2006 model that has a blown head gasket. It's back from Northern engineers and the mechanic who was going to help from (forsdicks) said I must buy deco set, oversize head gasket and lifters....now he doesn't have a chance....I'm desperately in need of somebody to put the cylinder head back and start the car....he attributed the problem to a small leak in one of the pipes on top of the fan the thin one. I stay in Bardale Vilage......

Bangdesk guys I am new in this forum...really looking for help....it's been a month now i don't have a car. If there's isn't a mechanic who can do it here at home, the nearest good mechanic/workshop will do....black heath maybe?

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons

Played this with my son today. Its a co-op game for single player. What that means is you play with Xbox controls. We played on a PC. The Xbox controls left joystick controls the older brother and the right joystick controls the younger brother. The left trigger controls older brother's action/use/climb and the right one, the younger brothers.

I wanted to play the game with my 10 year old son, so I used the keyboard which was the arrow keys and the control button. So I controlled the younger brother and my son controlled the older brother with the Xbox controller.

Graphics - 9/10
Uses the Unreal engine. The graphics are amazing and doesn't require the top of the range PC.

[Image: ss_f17052ef3cc2e65ef63b7b2eab6577f65e9fa...1403721537]

Gameplay - 9/10
Took a bit of getting used to but once you are used to it, its really straight forward. The co-op part was a lot of fun. A bit more difficult if you play the game by yourself.

Story - 10/10
My son and I were both visibly moved by the storyline. I won't say more for fear of spoiling it.

[Image: ss_a0180f59095731864eba9985e7f4b589d7ee1...1403721537]

Highly recommended.

The brothers' commitment to their goal and to each other is so strong, the various parts of this game so superbly crafted and woven together, that it's hard not to feel deeply touched when you finally reach the end of the road and see how deftly this game marries its gameplay to its themes in a way few have before.

One of the best stories I've played all year. The game has a way of pulling you in and making accomplishments feel earned. The game mechanics are easy and unique with a controller and help seperate the fact that you're playing as two different characters. The graphics are stunning and the camera positions itself perfectly to capture the depth of the scenery and this helps strengthen the story immensely. For a game that has hardly any dialogue I have never felt a richer story. An Absolute recommend

Hi guys, these are some of the problems my friend had on his e90 including solutions to these faults.

1)overheating =replaced waterpump and thermostat(diy)
2)high consumption of oil=oil leaking from vvt motor gasket, valve cover gasket, heat exchange gasket, oil filter housing gasket, replaced all parts and problem solved(diy)
3)misfired=faulty ignition coil
4)major hesitation under hard acceleration=intake vanos solenoid, cleaned the solenoid and change the oil, problem solved
5)broken valve cover bolt=half of the broken bolt just came out easy by using a flat head screw driver
6)hard steering=broken power steering pump,stealers ripped him off R13000

Hope this will help someone out there

Hi Guys

In taking so much that I have for granted I have decided to do something to give back....

Starting today 29th June 2014 to 27th July 2014 for every carbon accessory purchased we are going to allocate a portion/percentage of the sale towards putting together food parcels/hampers for the less fortunate.

A few fellow fanatics have given me an undertaking they will join me once a week to hand out to the less fortunate.

So In spirit of helping those less fortunate let me know what you require and together we can try and make a difference....

135i Suspension

$

Hi,

So I have a non-msport 135i and my girlfriend has the m-sport 125i. I always understood that the 135i has the full m-sport suspension but when I drive the 125i, the suspension is much stiffer than on my car. The feedback through the steering wheel is also much heavier and sportier. The 135i, on the other, hand absorbs the bumps so much better and has a much lighter steering feel. Are the two suspensions exactly the same?

Both cars have had the alignment done through BMW, have the same size tyres and the same tyre pressure.

I'm sorry but I had to...
