E90 320d Testdrive

Hey Guys, so me and my dad finally got to testdrive an E90 320d after almost nagging him for 3 years to come with me hehe.

All I can say is wowInlove!!!
Driving a 1.4 Corsa Utility and getting into the E90, well to be honest it felt like home againCry
The sophisticated interior, the quality, and best of all that refined diesel engine , its simply perfect to me.

I had never driven a diesel BMW before and was very impressed with the smooth power delivery on the auto.

Unfortunately mom was retrenched about two years ago and was unemployed for about a year. This caused us to only afford parts of all of the financial obligations as she took part time work to make ends meet. Luckily she has been back in the labour force full time since March. But this affected both mom and dads credit so even though I can afford the Beemer with what I have left of my salary, we still cannot get financeArghBangdeskCryYuck
I know it wasnt her fault, and I have all the love and respect for her and dad for doing what she does to provide for us.

Hopefully in a years time the banks will like us a bit more and be willing to help us out. This would make a good commuter for me as my Gautrain fare is R2800 per month now and last month I drove to PTA and back everyday and my fuel was about R3900.

Not to mention that e-toll pain in my p#$phol!

Hi guys,

I'm struggling to make a buying decision and need some input. What do you think will look better on the estoril blue - the carbon fiber or colour-coded rear spoiler?

E46 318i F/L Rough Idle Problem and more

Hey guys.

In 2011 Sep one of the members (Syl) posted a problem on a 318i facelift idling problems and zaleonardz advised him on the problem. Was that problem ever solved as I just bought my wife a 318i facelift a/t n42 motor that has then exact same symptoms.

Idle rough, EML comes on and goes in limp mode (doesn't accelerate but idles).

And then I have a e90 320i N46 A/T (my own car) that keeps on burning the number 2 spark plug. Had the injectors tested (tested fine) replaced all coils, still the problem persist.

Thanks in advance.

South Africa is a colourful and diverse country known for its culture, its flora and fauna, and its many religions, and to top it all, the country also boosts a rich variety of questionable names.

Diff input seal replacement done finally

the diff input seal on car began to leak and the amount of oil atarted out as perspiration and then moved to a drop and then to a 70mm diameter puddle. I did some research and decided to not use the car for a while until i found a place that would give me access to the everyday happenings of the repair.( i have sleepless nights if i have no access to my car being repaired so much so that i take pics of the areas that is going to be worked on)
I finally found a place in Kya Sands business park that had experience in BMWs and other high end cars, and he owns a quick M3 as well. I took the car in and got it assessed.

I got the seals and guibo replaced very efficiently and usedthe correct torque settings. The Carrier had no play and seemed fine.
i had the underside inspected for the infamous chassis cracks and im happy to say all is clear. Peter can attest to the topside inspection. The mechanic has taken meticulous care on the dismantling and reassembly.

The Mechanic also replaced the diff oils with liqui moly LS SAE 75w-140 after flushing the diff internals.

On collection of the car the drive felt " free" so to speak and the traction light seems to be working alot more. I have had the car for three weeks now and its dry and clean underneath. i am extremely happy with the performance too.

I'm wondering if anyone has the same in their vehicle, I changed all my interior lights to led works fine, but the vanity(sun visor lights) & rear floor lights are very tiny so. This wasn't included in the kit, now from my e46 these took the normal 42mm led's.

im not sure if coupes are the same as the verts.

I want to replace them so everything is white but never seen those tiny lights before and who sell's them.

Dad was driving to the shops this morning and an “idiot” in a White Bakkie; jumped the stop sign, and slammed into Big blue.
Dad is Okay !!!!
Cars can be replaced not people!

Turns out, bakkie’s owner has not paid the insurance for months and brother was driving, with NO LICENCE!

Does not look to bad
Front end is bent and pushed over to the right, and steer system is broken/jammed, tie rods snapped
Motor and gearbox ok

Good evening Gents,

Three weeks ago I bought a new m135i. My short car history includes:

2005 Volvo S40 2.4i
2013 Renault Megane RS265 Trophy

The renault was a true monster. Born and bred on the track. Unfortunately it proved not to be the most ideal on our roads as a daily driver.

I spent almost a 3 months extensively test driving cars from the A250, GTI7, V40 (Volvo, I couldn't leave it out since), Merc C-Class and the M235i.

The m135i far and above proved to be the best compromise between comfort, raw speed, a brilliant engine note (albeit artificial but that doesn't matter when backed up by performance in my view), and practicality. The m235i lost out by some margin due to the lack of possible discounts and being a coupe. Still, it would have been my second pick.

After long negotiations with Sandton Auto's Mr Ntunja, I collected the car on Saturday 14 June to much excitement.

Three weeks later the excitement remains. I've done 2000km (two trips to Botswana helped) and have started opening the car up. As a brief comparison coming from the RS, the trade off between Limited Slip Diff front wheel drive and rear wheel drive is... Interesting. I can't take anything away from the RS's ability to dig into corners the harder you push the car. However the ease of loosening up the read end of this car offers far more smiles with a dash of hooliganism. A reviewer said it best. Excuse my remix - RS is a sharpened weapon whereas the m135i fists it's way through the curves. As this was less of a passion purchase (Nurburgring records need not apply), I envision to stay faithful to this fisting 'M' for many years and many miles. It has so many feelgood factors (HK Sound, comfortable seats, adpative suspension, 235kw, auto 8) that make a blade seem almost unnecessary.

One big critique? Runflats. G'damn runflats. I have to live with these tyres for the next year or three. Why wasn't there an option to switch? Why??

I snuck onto the forum so consider this my official hello. It's a pleasure to meet you all. Picture's below:

I meant it. The salesman was passionate!

Lastly a big shout out to Treschen for his recommendation. I didn't end up going for his recommended dealer but he certainly helped get my foot in the door. Also Ty to Sandton Auto (Mr. Warren and Zamo). They made magic happen. See you guys on the road.

Hi everyone

I'm a newbie to the forum been browsing here for about a year leaned a lot and saved me a lot of money. Let me first introduce my car, e46 330i 2002 5speed manual pre face and the love of my life. Problem I currently have is with my gear change Argh gear change is smooth until I put my foot down it then sticks before locking into 2nd and then 3rd I've done reading and the weekend passed changed my transmission fluid with Ravenol from SOS oils thanks to you guys I didn't have to spend r350L at the dealers. Now this really made the changes like silk but still have the sticky change ( not as severe) when taking on a toyota 86 the other day. I'm thinking of doing the cdv delete the weekend and seeing what happens then, but presides that are there any suggestions here for this problem and any recommend places I can get it checked out at in Cape Town? Please please Bangdesk

Hi all

I was talking to atleast three "so called" BMW mechanics although they are jacks of all trades and the general consensus amongst them is that unleaded 95 is not recommended for E36 models, esp the older ones.

They state that only unleaded 93 should be used.

This doesnt make sense to me....any thoughts on this?

Hi all.

Im sure this questions has been asked to death. Is it worth changing from a viscous fan to an electric fan on an E36? Does anybody have reliable links or advise on doing this?
