Hi fanatics. This has me completely baffled. Was driving sunday morning just my parks and spot lights...stopped at my girlfriends place and the OBD gives me a tail light failure message. So I check and the tail lights are dead. The strange thing is that the rear fog light indicator is displayed on the instrument cluster. I checked all the fuses, all the bulbs are still fine. I removed the headlight switch and nothing looks or smells burnt. Even if I remove the two buttons for the front and rear fog lights, the rear fog light indicator stays on. Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
I'm going to try another light switch but the earliest I can do that is Wednesday.
The car in question is a '95 E36
EDIT.
Indicators hazards reverse lights brake lights all work. It's just the driving lights and the fog light that doesn't work
The worst aspect of cutting edge CGI and audio technology in today’s world is that it’s taught us to question our primary senses. We’ve seen and heard so many (apparently) realistic portrayals of colossal robots, epic space travel and earth-shattering destruction we’ve instinctively developed an inner voice that pipes up whenever we witness the fantastical. The message? “Sure, that looks and sounds amazing, but of course it’s not real.” While this voice is usually an asset, helping us separate fantasy from reality, its skeptical nature can be a burden when you’re piloting a spectacular supercar through the equally spectacular Scottish Highlands. Under these circumstance, ideally, one turns off all brain filters and simply drinks in the natural and mechanical eye candy.

Such was the case during a recent road test between Loch Ness and the North Atlantic Coast in a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish. In this circumstance, immersed in the visceral ambience of Aston Martin’s premier performance coupe while traversing the visual tapestry that is northern Scotland, one might reasonably question one’s surroundings. Peering through the Vanquish’s sloped windshield reveals deep blue lakes and lochs nestled between jagged mountains bathed in lush greens and deep grays. Throw in an uncharacteristic partly-to-mostly-sunny sky and you’re convinced it’s all some grand illusion the folks at Aston Martin orchestrated to emphasize the Vanquish’s latest improvements.

Of course driving an Aston Martin, in any atmosphere, can inspire disbelief. “Is the 6.0-liter, V12 engine really capable of such operatic sound quality?” was a question I quickly processed and dismissed. I’ve driven enough Aston Martins to know the unrivaled quality of their exhaust notes. “Is a car as luxurious and substantial as the 2015 Vanquish really capable of zero-to-60 mph in 3.6 seconds? Can the V12′s 568 peak horsepower actually push the sinuous coupe to over 200 mph?” That question took a bit longer to unravel than the exhaust query, because among the Vanquish’s improvements for 2015 is an all-new 8-speed transmission that maximizes every one of the V12′s 568 horses and 465 pound-feet of peak torque.

If you’re lucky enough to have first-hand experience with last year’s Vanquish (count me among that fortunate group) you’ll notice the performance upgrades immediately. The previous car certainly wasn’t slow, with a zero-to-60 time of around 4.1 seconds, but that half-second improvement to the 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish’s acceleration can be felt even without mashing the gas pedal because of newfound immediacy to throttle response.

The Vanquish always maintains its stately nature, but switching from the 6- to 8-speed transmission for 2015 means tighter gear ratios, and that means things happen much quicker when your right foot seeks forward movement. Like every modern automaker, Aston Martin isn’t simply chasing more horsepower these days (though the Vanquish’s V12 did gain 3 horsepower and 7 lb-ft of toque through engine tweaks for 2015).
Aston Martin Vanquish 8-Speed
More horsepower brings with it more heat and, quite often, reduced fuel efficiency. Better to leverage the existing power in the most effective way possible, which is exactly what the new, rear-mounted ZF 8-speed transaxle does. While the transmission utilizes a traditional torque converter rather than a dual-clutch design, shifts happen in as little as 130 milliseconds when the Vanquish is set to “Sport” mode, a setting that also quickens throttle response and puts the transmission in a more aggressive shift mode.

Connecting the engine and transaxle is an aluminum torque tube meant to reduce parasitic loss through its lightweight design and fixed link (no u-joints involved). These drivetrain upgrades have accomplished the trifecta in automotive evolution — higher performance, improved refinement and superior fuel efficiency. Along with more power, quicker acceleration and a greater top speed, the Vanquish’s EPA ratings move from last year’s 13 city/19 highway mpg to 13 city/21 highway mpg.

The 2015 Vanquish’s ride and handling behavior has been similarly upgraded through a series of chassis revisions. The front and rear springs are stiffer by 15 and 35 percent, respectively. The rear bushings are also 20 percent stiffer and a stronger rear anti-roll bar, as well as updated camber and toe settings, reduce body roll while improving turn-in. New, lighter 10-spoke forged wheels now ride on upgraded Pirelli PZero tires (255/35-20 front, 305/30-20 rear), and a larger dynamic spread between the Normal, Sport and Track settings for the adaptive suspension give the Vanquish a shaper, more nimble demeanor than one expects from a plush grand-touring coupe. Additional changes for 2015 include new leather trim color options (Dark Knight and Fandango Pink) and a new Diavalo Red exterior paint.

Of course, with the just-introduced Q by Aston Martin bespoke service Aston Martin buyers now have an almost unlimited number of personalized options available to them. The range of vehicle customization goes far beyond simply color-matching the leather seats to your wife’s favorite nail polish hue. If you’re looking to create a Vanquish like no other, Aston Martin has a team of designers ready to assist you. The cost for this service adds to the 2015 Vanquish coupe’s starting price of $287,820 ($305,820 for the Vanquish Volante convertible).

Better performance and fuel efficiency? Nimble handling from a palatial luxury coupe? A personalized program to build a supercar reflecting your specific tastes? Like today’s CGI, these concepts might have your little voice piping in, suggesting it all looks and sounds great — and unreal. But just like the mind-altering vistas I drove through in the Scottish Highlands, the 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish represents stark reality.
Sup gents,

So after my 2013 320i went in for a service in Mid March I started hearing a loud humming sound from the front left wheel as I exceeded 110km/h
The vehicle went in 6 times to the dealership - Wheel balancing and wheel alignment were done, the wheel bearings were checked and I had brand new tyres fitted as the dealer insisted the tyres were causing the noise. I had the regional manager look at the car during the last visit and had to take the car in to have some rubber grommets fitted to the belly pan around mid June which made no difference to the situation. I was then advised that a new belly pan will be ordered. Over the past 8 weeks the ETA for the part was changed 3 times and after querying again yesterday I was informed that they not sure when the part will arrive. I have been driving the vehicle for 5 months now with this annoying sound.
I wrote to BMW SA twice and received absolutely no feedback.
I did not expect this from a company like BMW - more than 50days and still no date for a engine floor cover.
The F30 may just be the last BMW I own due to the pathetic service from BMW. Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Long story short: Since I can remember I was a BMW fanatic, had a E36 325i M a few years back, stunning car, never had a problem. Been driving a VW Golf 5 after that, but time has come to go back to BMW Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Not sure if I should post the question under the Newbie area, let me know...
I have about R 100 000K and would like to know what you guys recommend. I'm obviously looking for a car that is not to heavy on the gas, but still would like some performance when needed and mainly, stability....a car that will give me minimal problems and be economical to maintain. I would prefer the E90, but maybe the E46 is a safer bet. Please advise, will be much appreciated.
Models I looked at recently on the internet is E46 320D (I understand it's not a good buy), rather the E46 330D, less problems? Found one with only about 70K km for R 110 000, a bit expensive, but in perfect condition and ultra low km's.
Also looked at E46 325i, E90 320i and E90 320D. I would defenitely prefer a E90, but maintenance is probably way higher than that of a E46? How does the engines compare, is it safe to buy a E90 with e.g. 120K - 160K...also for the E46? Any advise, I'm a bit in the dark, would not like to buy a car and spend thousands in the coming year.
Sorry for the double post, posted this under the Newbie area as well, not sure if I'll get the information I need there.

Got some funny codes on a BMW PA Soft Scanner 1.4.0 , one of them is pointing to Ignition Feedback Resistor (ZSR) ...any ideas where this is located on an E46 .
Car runs fine no "check engine" lights and according to this codes the car should not even be running . Starts fine and runs all the way to 6000 Rpm no hiccups.

The BMW i8 Configurator Is Now Live But You'll Have To Wait 10 Months For Delivery The UK allocation of BMW i8s has already sold out, which means a lengthy 10-month wait for prospective buyers
By Darren Cassey, 12 August 2014
When we drove the BMW i8, it was immediately clear that the future was here. It seems that the UK public has fallen in love with the hybrid cruiser just as much as we have, which is why every single i8 in the country has been sold, despite its £100k price tag.

The Park Lane showroom in London’s Mayfair is the most successful dealership, having sold 170 cars, and its sales manager told The Telegraph that he’s even had numerous offers for the display car.

The BMW i8 comes with a mid-mounted 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which powers the rear wheels. It gets a turbocharger that bumps its output to 228bhp and 236lbs ft of torque. Out front is a 96kW electric motor sending 129bhp and 184lbs ft of torque to the front wheels. This hybrid setup makes the i8 cheap to run and exempt from London’s Congestion Charge, an appealing prospect for buyers.

The news comes as the i8’s online configurator went live on the BMW USA website. We’ve already lost time figuring out exactly which paint and wheels combo we’d go for. In the end we decided it had to be Crystal White Pearl with blue accents, 20-inch turbine wheels and an Ivory White interior.
As is so often the theme with German aftermarket tuners, GAD has answered the supply issue to a demand question nobody in particular was asking: “why isn’t there a faster, teal, A45?” Well, now there is.
At its workshop in Fellbach, on the north eastern border of Stuttgart, GAD’s technicians have crafted an upgrade package which replaces the AMG hoops with 19-inch OZ Superforgiata alloys and wrapps the A45 in teal. Somehow, we assume all of this will make it the aftermarket superhatch of choice for Marvel Green Lantern fans.
Beyond the Captain Planet on acid looks, GAD has managed to fiddle the redoubtable 2-litre AMG turbomotor to 320kW, which is paradoxically impressive and quite ridiculous. There are 100 additional torques too.
Unsurprisingly, considering its engine outputs, this GAD A45 is a true supercar baiting hot hatch, running the 0-100kph benchmark in 4.1 secs, before rolling past 200kph only 10.2 seconds later.
So, if you desire some freshly minted performance boosting for an A45 hatch, Gutenbergstraße 29 in Fellbach, is where you need to go.
Hyundai has released the first images of the new i20 ahead of its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
The new i20 has been designed and developed in Europe, and Hyundai says that three key attributes underline how it meets the needs of consumers: class-leading interior space, a host of high-technology and comfort-enhancing features, and a distinctive design.
Based on a new platform, the new i20 features a 2570mm wheelbase — 45mm longer than the outgoing model — providing customers with one of the most spacious cabins in the segment. The Korean automaker says that boot capacity is also segment-leading at 326 litres.
The new i20 also boasts an integrated rear-view camera and front and rear LED lighting.
The upright chrome-framed hexagonal grille, meanwhile, has been lowered for design and engineering purposes. A thin, horizontal grille connects the front headlamp clusters, which include bi-function projection headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED positioning lamps. A lower grille houses the front fog lamps.
At the rear, the i20 features a gloss-black C-pillar that gives the impression of a floating roofline. The lamp clusters wrap around the rear wing into the boot-lid and feature a boomerang-shaped LED design.
The world premiere of the new i20 will take place at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
