Hi guys,

I need to replace my thermostat on my e46 325i.

The agents want R1600 but I can get a WAHLER for R869 @ G-Drive. Is a Wahler any good?

Has anyone used it before? Hows the quality?

I'd like to know from N54 owners how reliable their cars are esp. after 80000kmz? What are their maintenance cost like? I know it will put a smile on my face every single day, I just want to be prepared. If all preventative maintenance is done and I know the vehicle isn't a lemon, am I really going to be sitting with a headache? The car will most likely never be modded but will do a lot of freeway driving.

Any info will be appreciated

JOHANNESBURG – An intense cold front is expected to hit the Western Cape and parts of the Northern Cape from Wednesday evening and Gauteng will not be spared.

The South African Weather Service says Gauteng residents will start feeling the effects from Friday.

Temperatures are expected to drop and the first summer rains could fall this weekend.

Forecaster Edwin Thema says, “We are expecting strong winds over Gauteng and this cold front is expected to hit Gauteng on Friday, dropping the temperatures to still warm in the North but cool in the South.”

In the Western Cape, residents and farmers have been warned of gale force winds, heavy rain, flooding cold conditions and even snowfall.

Conditions are expected to clear up by the weekend, before the cold front hits Gauteng.

Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 318i with the N46 engine. I bought it in 2006 with 28000km on the clock, It is now on 429000km. I have had no major problems with the car. just my clucth twice, vacuum pump, tappet gasket and most recently the propshaft coupling.

However it is very very sluggish now. 1.4 velociti's are beating me robot to robot.

Do you guys have any cheap suggestions to bring up the power abit?

Hi Guys. Its been a sad weekend for me. Wife and I have lost our 2 Ringnecks that we have had for 6 years. They escaped from our home in Midrand on Friday the 12th/09/14. If you see them please PM me.



Ziggy is 6 years old. She cant fly so someone may have picked her up or the cats may have gotten to her. She looks a bit scruffy now as she has lost alot of chest feathers



Blu can fly short distances. He now has a black ring around his neck(mature male).

They both are very friendly and will quickly jump to your hand if you put your hand out or entice them with food.

Hi guys

I want to learn the limits of my car with traction control off, but on a realistic surface and not a skidpan. Can anyone suggest somewhere where there is a deserted road or parking lot I can practice without the risk of hitting a pavement or tree? Anything close to Bryanston, Fourways, Randpark, Roodepoort will be awesome.

Cape Town - Expensive luxury vehicles are being targeted by syndicate members posing as employees of vehicle dealerships with the aim of stealing the cars.

Hugo van Zyl, chief executive of the South African Insurance Crime Bureau, said on Monday the syndicates posed as employees of service departments or customer service centres at dealerships to identify owners of vehicles.

“The syndicates have been operating mostly in Gauteng, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal,” Van Zyl said. “At the moment the problem is not in the Western Cape.”

The Insurance Crime Bureau was established in 2008 to advise the insurance industry on organised crime. Its notice about the syndicates was published on the websites of dealerships in Cape Town this week.

“Once the owner of a targeted vehicle logs a complaint, he will receive a phone call from one of the suspects pretending to be either the customer service manager from the dealership’s head office or somebody from the specific service department.”

Van Zyl said the syndicates’ modus operandi was to obtain information about vehicles booked in for servicing or for repairs at the service department of a dealership.

They would also gather the contact information of clients who made the booking. The syndicate then arranged for the vehicle to be picked up from the client to have the problem resolved at the dealership - and disappeared with it, he said.

Hi guys,

Im desperately seeking the wood grain centre console for the E36 4 door sedan. Mine is cracked and I loose a new piece everyday. Its starting to look really depressing.

I haven't tried the agents as yet. Is there any spares places around CPT that I could find one of these? Or can this be fixed? Im not a fan of the vinyl wrapping idea as this is what some has recommended.

Any ideas?

There are times when seconds count, and the ability to move quickly could mean the difference between life and death. In combat, soldiers can carry upwards of 90 pounds in their rucksacks and on their bodies, which significantly reduces how fast they can move on foot. Jason Kerestes, a student at Arizona State University, has developed the 4 Minute Mile: a jetpack that helps soldiers move faster, without requiring them to physically exert more.

While jetpacks are usually associated with flying around, this one just gives the runner a boost, helping them to shave off time while also decreasing the amount of effort put into the activity. Initial testing has shown that even while loaded up with the jetpack equipment, the runner was able to complete a 200-meter run faster and with decreased metabolic cost than when he ran on his own.

This project was completed in ASU’s iProjects program, which hooks students up with faculty and partners in the industry to help solve real problems. Kerestes’s project was completed in cooperation with professor Thomas Sugar of ASU’s Human Machine Integration Lab and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

So I am loving the lil debates and discussions between the F30 320i vs the F30 320d, and reading everyones opinions and the facts it seems the 320d is the better car provided you aren't biased in favor of the petrol or diesel... and I am not biased towards diesel cars by the way, I am a petrol fan boy and will never drive a diesel.

So since we know that after driving the 320i and the 320d that most would choose the 320d, what are the thoughts on the 320d vs the 328i?

If this thread exists somewhere I am sorry... I did search and found nothing however.
