Bad Debt Recovery

Im so tired of getting screwed.....

Here is the situation

About a month ago, I paid 13k for a laptop and an ICOM head.

After MANY hours/days of trying to get this new product to work, it did not.

I purchased this product from a local distributor in South Africa, and it came with a one year warentee, I had the product in my hand, as well as the laptop, so I paid.

I have since taken the product back to the guy, and gave him 2 weeks to sort out the issue.

I badgered him for about a week, then i gave him some space.

Two weeks elapsed, and now im pissed....

SO I tell him, that I want my money back (both laptop and head has been with him for ages)

He says, dont worry, he will order me a new head from China,

I wait, another week

He cannot provide me with a tracking number, and he refuses to give my money back.

I treatened him virtually daily, stating that I either want a tracking number, or I want my money

"you will get the waybill number soon"

Meaning that he has done sweet bugger all, and has literally been fscking me around for the last month.

Now, I have 3 options

1. Small claims court, amount is 1k too high, so thats out

2. Proper legal route, this is out, as its just too expensive for the 13k. The last guy I sued was 2 years ago for 20k, legal fees are sitting at 15k already, and I have not seen the inside of a court room, we do not even have a trail date yet

3. Jungle Justice - I send some professional debt collecting friends after him, and they go and "fetch" my money for me, by any means required, and it cost me like 2k or something.

I do not like option 3, I am not the sort of guy that likes option 3, nor the aftermath that it has.

Are there any other options, as clearly I got shafted out of 13k, and the prick that shafted me, cannot get away with this.

I am sick of being taken advantage of...

Any other options, would most appreciate it.

3rd party insurance claim help

Hi guys. I have a bit of a situation.

i need some advice... I made a third party claim against someone who crashed into me. The damage wasn't bad and the car is still drivable.

I was told that a third party claim requires you to get the quotes yourself and do all the running around. Now I am told after taking time off work to get the quotes etc. I have lost income, spent money on petrol and I submitted the quotes etc last month. After loosing my temper end of last week suddenly things are getting done but now they making me take the car to get assessed again.

I understood that third party claims, the person who was making the claim did all the work then they were paid out in cash and then repaired their car in their own time?

Do I have the right to get them to pay me out or do I have to listen to them and do what they want? I don't have the time to send my car in for repairs now and I need the car for a holiday trip next month.

I just want to know if I I can demand they pay me in cash?

I used the search bar but couldn't find a similar situation to mine.
any help would be great. Thanks guys

M135i - Aerodynamically Enhanced (Detail Content)

Another weekend another detail, and as the title suggests, this M135i came in for the aerodynamic benefits - a smoother paint job equals less air resistance and drag which then equates to a faster car... Bravo

The Premise:

Shikar aka DVST8 aka DSTV dropped this puppy off for some new car paint protection work, as well as some enhancement. In all honesty, this car was already in top condition - he had the car clayed and waxed as soon as he took delivery of this beast, and that already was a good platform to begin with. Also, he asked me to give the interior some love, as he saw the work that was done on Elton's car.

Aside from light to mid swirling, the paint was a non-issue. I didn't really bother with before shots, the swirling was so light that my camera couldn't even pick it up in pictures (I'm not using a DSLR) Flyfun

Products and Tools worth mention:

The usual suspects came out to play here, such as my Flex, and the obligatory S3 Gold, this time in an XXL configuration. Also the use of Auto Finesse Tripple.

Scholl S3 Gold XXL:

This stuff is epic! Besides cutting like a hot knife through butter when used with a machine, I decided to give this stuff a go by hand, here are the results:

The picture above shows the door trim - the trim piece on the left was treated to a polish with S3 Gold and a Lake Country Orange pad. The trim piece on the right was left untouched. I then decided to give the S3 a go, using an AF Dual foam hand polishing pad on the right hand side, this is what I got:

Applying medium pressure, on the White side of the pad, I was able to achieve the finish on the right, as above. Though not perfect, I was impressed to see how well it worked, even when applied by hand!

Next up was the Pure X Savannah Drying Towel - this is a must have! Super absorbent, so soft, dust free drying - I'll use no other towel to dry my car again! As is stated on the AF SA website 'it can retain 900% its weight in water'.

Also AF Tripple - this stuff worked so well as a gloss enhancer on the White paint! I tried a few combinations, just to get some added depth and squeeze out the last bit of gloss, and I found the Tripple to work very well on the White paint when paired with a white LC polishing pad.

As usual, the car was washed:

The usual Cyclo APC and wheel cleaning fare.

Then it was polished:

Lovely enhanced definition coming through from the paint under the lights.

Then it was sealed using BlackFire Wet Diamond Sealant. I was keen to see how it worked on a white car, I was not disappointed!

E90 Tips and Tricks

Hi all

Starting this thread for all the E90 owners out there who like to use their cars functions to the fullest. If we all share our knowledge we will all learn something new.

I'll start off with the start without key trick:

1) From having your car idling
2) Push "start/stop" button
3) Eject keyfob (don't open any doors yet)
4) Once you have taken out your keyfob from the slot, immediately push the "start/stop" button and voila your car will start without the keyfob.

Nice little trick if for some reason you need to leave your car idling while using your bunch of keys for something else.

Looking for some advice here guys...

I live in JHB and have a 135i with a N54 engine and would like to get a few more horses out of it without making any physical modifications... Don't want to get annihilated by these new generation 2L Turbo Monsters that are being released lately like the new Golf R 0-100 in 5 Seconds Bangdesk

I have seen a number of options out there and so far i am considering the following guys... ATM Chiptuning and Xcede Performance.

Has anyone used these guys and if so what has your experience been like? Any other options?

Please keep in mind that i still have MotorPlan and don't want to void it.

Starter Motor Dramas

Hi Guys,

I was wondering is someone would be able to help with my starter motor. It sounds like the solenoid is failing, but just want to check if anyone agrees. The video is unfortunately not as clear sounding as i hear it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CH81EyY5AI

I have looked at getting a new unit. Diesel electric doesnt have stock( but would have been 4.7k) and BMW want 9k for a new starter. I have also tried BEMOW who dont have the part as well as MDhouse who want 3.5k for a second hand one. I feel that that is quite expensive, but i would go for a new unit from non-bmw if i cannot repair the unit.

I was also wondering if anyone knows where to get just the solenoid part and not the complete assembly, or knows anyone who does refurbish the unit.

Hey guys.

Been looking like crazy. Need to reprogram key fob. The little red light above gear leave does not come on. Central locking works with key in door... I have checked behind glove box. Under steering wheel. And in passanger side foot well under carpet. I can't find the module.

Even if the moduel was removed. I would find the harness there. But nothing. Tho I did find a pcb type antenna behind the glove box. The cable for that runs under the carpet to the back.

Tried tracing wires from led... failed.

Any ideas.

Hi guys I have a weird problem, Ive recently removed the cdv on my baby and I was trying to do a hard launch, but when i let go off clutch pedal the car doesnt launch its like the clutch slips or something. The revs go up but car goes nowhere, but if i pull of normal and then plant it its fine.

Any help will do, my mechanics just say it could be clutch but not sure.

The car has 200k km on and im not sure if clutch has been replaced or not.

E90 auto lights

Hi guys
Does anybody perhaps know on the E90 if there's a sensor somewhere for the auto lights?
The reason for me asking is, my lights stay on all the time when on auto, in the day, the sun can shine on the front of the car, the lights stay on. Maybe a dirty sensor?
My dad also have a E90, and he told me last night that his car dim/bright automatically for oncoming traffic at night when the lights are on auto?
Never heard of that?
