Looking for OBD cable and some advise - 120i

I have a BMW 120i and am looking for the OBD cable and software, the car is not running properly and I am wanting to check if the OBD can help me find the problem. One thing is that it is idling weird and that has caused it to cut out about 5 times now (this causes a massive safety risk as it has happened to me in a turn before, meaning I have lost power steering and that was not fun) the second thing is an odd sound that seems like it is coming from the front wheels when ever I accelerate after switching gears. And last but not least the last time I rode the car I lifted the bonnet to find oil everywhere and the problem with BMW's is that everything is cover so I can't see where the problem is, all I see is oil everywhere (including the underside of the bonnet) but by the exhaust manifold, that area is still clean. Please help, don't want to have to resort to taking it to BMW and spending a lot of money but if it HAS to be done then I will.

Looking to replace my 2004 318i auto. I am considering a 2011 E90 320d auto. Seen a few for between 210 and 250 with mileage less
than 60k. I noticed for around 260 I can get a 2012/2013 F30 320i(bottom of the range) auto with <40K on the clock. Loved the E90 320d for such a long time. Im wondering whether I should rather go for the F30 320i. Newer car more time on motorplan. I believe the fuel consumtion is pretty good on the F30 320i from reviews I've read.
Any opinions guys? Anybody owned both that could comment?

This is a three owner car having been recently acquired by the third owner, from a lady who covered some 160000Km during the period of her ownership.

Currently with 209500Km and a 1994 build date it has a full dealer service history..
Interior is absolutely clean.

Owner is friends with a forum member and has been complaining about a lack of performance so when Faisel came to collect his red e36M he dropped this with me .

Clearly evident above is that 4 of the 6 plugs are oil contaminated from a leaking gasket.

Moveable assets belonging to the basic education department have been attached after it failed to pay R28 million owed to Eastern Cape teachers, the Legal Resources Centre (LRC) said.

Luxury German cars used byMotshekga and her director-general have been attached.

"The department of education failed to implement the court order of 20 March 2014, settled in favour of the schools," LRC director in Grahamstown Sarah Sephton said in a statement.

The goods attached were valued at R1,920,000. They included over 800 computers and seven vehicles, including those used by Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and her director general.

The attachment followed legal action by the LRC on behalf of a number of Eastern Cape schools seeking payment for teachers hired to fill vacancies. The LRC had asked that the teachers be appointed permanently.

Sephton said the LRC had filed a contempt of court application as a result of the department's failure to appoint and pay teachers on a permanent basis, contrary to the court order.

The contempt of court application includes the minister of education, the director general of education, and the Eastern Cape education MEC.

"They will be expected to show good cause why they should not be held in contempt of court and face jail time," she added.

Department of basic education spokesman Elijah Mhlanga said the provincial education department had paid and the matter had been resolved.

Motshekga’s car and her director-general’s were among seven attached in Pretoria. h Mhlanga said they were state property and "not like Motshekga’s personal car".

Guys, I need a place in Centurion that can print 8 stickers the size of a numberplate for Sundays trackday. I think it would be nice if it had an ///M Logo on it with a white or even black background. These obviously needs to be done today or tomorrow and it would also be nice if it can be a little cheap as it will literally stay on the car for like 6 hours.

So I picked up my new baby after work yesterday !

Unfortunately not all my M-Performance parts had arrived so that will happen next week.

Hi guys having an issue with my 335i cab it idling slightly rough and on pull away there is a vibration on dash and a flat spot between 1000 and 2000 revs any ideas.

Hi guys,

So ive had a rough idle a few times in the morning,and now and then,then one day it stuttered badly,I shut it of and started again and the problem was gone,though lately it feels sluggish!

This morning I scanned and found the following pending faults

P0303
P0403
P0603
P00aa
B2aaa
B2aaa

The last one not typed by error twice as this is how my obd tool showed it to me.

Where do I start as I want to fix it please I miss her being in a good condition.

And BTW my motorplan expired 14 Aug!

Hi Guys,

I am starting to build a custom enclosure and porting system for my E46 330i.
I have done a couple audio systems in previous cars and have hopefully learnt from my mistakes to make this install the best so far. My current install was a compact 17 litre sealed enclosure for My JL Audio 10WXv2-4. The bass was tight but I struggled to achieve volume and presence within the cabin. So I am changing the setup to a Ported/Vented enclosure of approximately 28.3 litres. The subwoofer will face and fire directly through the ski hatch into the cabin while two ports will fire upwards into the cabin too, through the old spots for the rear parcel shelf speakers. Venting into the cabin via subwoofer placement and ports will hopefully give me the desired effect and outcome. Why have I decided to get rid of the rear parcel shelf speakers?
Well, firstly, they have deteriorated over their lifespan and are in a terrible state right now. Secondly, they are mid-bass drivers and thus with the subwoofer system being in such close proximity, their usefulness has been nullified, Rear fill can be performed by the dedicated mids in the rear doors. The subwoofer is being powered by an Alpine MRX F-35 bridged to provide between 150W-200W RMS power. Once funds come in, I will be installing a component split system up front, 5.25", powered by the spare channels left on the Alpine.

So today I am going looking for 3" PVC pipe and 3" Aero Ports, Once I've sorted out the plumbing, Ill be able to get cracking with the box. Here's some pics of the current state of affairs:

What a guy.

Took time out of his busy schedule on two separate evenings to help me out. I was at the point of trading in my car when Hoosain very cleverly coded and sorted out some of the issues that the stealer ship could not find.

Hey Fanatics!

Newbie question time here regarding brake pads and discs.

I have a '96 E36 316i with solid front discs, drums at back.

My pads are almost due for a replacement and I'm looking to improve my braking performance over stock (running generic cheapie pads currently).

I've looked into getting Powerbrake discs and pads, but unfortunately the don't make discs for the thinner solid size.

So my question to you guys is:

1) What brake pad would you recommend for my vehicle? I've heard good things of ATE, Powerbrake and Alfa.
2) Powerbrake pads are going for R1100 for a set and ATEs are on special at Midas for R350 a set. Are the Powerbrake pads THAT much better for the cost?
3) Are generic discs (solid) as good as ATE solid discs?
